Target is cutting about 500 positions, roughly 400 in supply chain and about 100 at the store district level, to simplify its structure and redirect payroll toward store labor.
Target eliminated about 1,800 corporate roles, roughly 8% of its global headquarters staff, through about 1,000 layoffs and 800 unfilled positions, its first major layoff round in a decade; store and supply chain jobs were not affected.
Each layoff is an announcement a company made or confirmed, with at least one source. Employee totals add the numbers as stated: “about”, “at least” and “up to” figures count as given, and layoffs without a number count toward companies and layoffs only. Headquarters filters use where a company is based, not where the cuts happen.
