UPS plans to eliminate up to 30,000 operational positions in 2026 through attrition and a buyout offer for full-time drivers, as it shrinks its Amazon volume and closes buildings.
With its third-quarter results, UPS disclosed that it had also eliminated about 14,000 positions, mostly in management, bringing its 2025 job cuts to about 48,000.
UPS said it would cut about 20,000 jobs and close 73 buildings in 2025 as it handles less Amazon volume and trims costs. By October it said operational job cuts had reached about 34,000.
Each layoff is an announcement a company made or confirmed, with at least one source. Employee totals add the numbers as stated: “about”, “at least” and “up to” figures count as given, and layoffs without a number count toward companies and layoffs only. Headquarters filters use where a company is based, not where the cuts happen.
