Verizon said it would lay off about 500 more corporate employees and sell 274 company-owned stores to franchise operators, moves that affect roughly 3,000 retail and corporate workers in all.
Verizon CEO Dan Schulman told employees the company would cut more than 13,000 jobs, its largest single layoff, and convert 179 company-owned stores to franchises; Verizon said the cuts were not driven by AI.
Each layoff is an announcement a company made or confirmed, with at least one source. Employee totals add the numbers as stated: “about”, “at least” and “up to” figures count as given, and layoffs without a number count toward companies and layoffs only. Headquarters filters use where a company is based, not where the cuts happen.
